"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Some updated pics from abbreviated training and successful dieting down. Still a ways to go, but I am happy with the results.

Alright gents, here is an update. New routine, performed on Thursdays only.

*all machine work performed on Cybex Gallileo series.

*5 reps at 60%, 3 reps at 80% and to failure at max. We just pull the pins and go to next weight.

Pec deck
Chest press (focusing on chest at the moment)
Leg press
Calf raise
Pulldown
Upright row
Curls
Triceps *cable machine

About 20 minutes per person, no rest between sets.

Every two weeks, we do:

Squat or DL
Shoulders
Neg Chin*
Neg Dips*

*try for 2 min TUL

Just an update. Continuing to train one day a week, continuing to see increases in strength. No fat loss, but at this point who cares (I don't).

I expect to see improvement until November, then total destruction on my hard earned physique as I've signed up for NaNoWriMo. 50,000 words in 30 days working a full time job and raising two kids... no sleep will hurt. But I think it will be worth it to complete a personal goal of "writing a novel".

Hope all is well for those that read this.

P.S. PM me if you want a link to my writing website(s) and you can see what I've been up to.

Congratulations. A wonderful achievement. Aim for 500lbs (a big jump, I know, but it looks to be well within your capabilities) and you're in a select group.

Best,
Ray

Great stuff T , small/achievable goal setting its the only way to do it. Im sure you will hit that 300lb bench in a short time.

Thought I'd post an update.

Two consecutive weeks of 300 lb bench press. Feeling accomplished for hitting another goal.

New goals: 500 lb DL, 350 lb bench, 400 lb squat

Also, I've written 16600 words of 50000 for NaNoWriMo in 10 days. So I'd like to finish that too.

I have to say that carb backloading works. I've never had results like this.

I'm sure it's already been discussed but I didn't pay much attention, what is carb back loading again?
