"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."
This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

I was always a huge Arnold fan, but this has taken it to a new low. The worst part is that the help was probably close to Maria for years and he just told her a few months ago. It looks like that Wendy Leigh unauthorized Arnold biography from the early 90's with the claims of cheating on Maria was pretty accurate.

True, but it also takes two to tangle. So much for the "help" being devoted to Maria.
Oh come on he's a larger than life celebrity if was in his shoes I would probably carry on like that we all would. Even Arthur Jones admitted in ...And God Laughs to have had sex with a number of women into the thousands and getting one pregnant that had his baby, and that was one he did know of.

Arthur wasn't married. I wouldn't cheat on my wife even if I was the Supreme Leader of the Universe, because I would never hurt her.
Not condemning Arnold, everyone has their weaknesses. But some guys amaze me. How much effort and stress is it to cheat on your wife, and for what?
Unless you have some sort of "arrangement" with your wife, I think it indicates a personality flaw (narcissistic, self-destructive... maybe)
"Arnold was a homosexual prostitute, a drug user and drug pusher and made no bones about it at the time; so, later,
when he tried to get me to hire him I turned him down. He had one of the best physiques in history, but his ethics left
a good deal to be desired. About a year ago he told a friend of mine, Joe Cirulli, that he did not know me, had never met
me. Well, maybe he has lost his memory, because I have literally hundreds of pictures of him that Inge took in my
house, my gym and my yard." Arthur Jones

lets hope you are wrong here...character is character, whether you are rich or poor...lets hope there are some larger than life characters out there who still possess some of it in this modern day culture.
i hope right and wrong is not defined by whether you are rich verses poor or famous verses a nobody..Our society is doomed as we know it or so it seems.

Amen brother..glad to read this - a man of some type of principle above self.

I think that is very admirable NewYorker. Like you, there is no way I could ever hurt my wife by cheating on her. If someone feels the need to cheat, then they should have the character to leave the relationship.
I'm not judging Arnold (I don't walk in his shoes), but most people that cheat either have some agreement with their spouse or must have very little respect for themselves and low self-esteem. Again, your statements are admirable and it;s great to see there are members on here with high character.
Here is what the ego-maniac probably said to Maria:
Honey, but I could not tell you, because I had several movies in the can, or in production, and it would have hurt my career.
Honey, later, I could not tell you, because it would have hurt my bid for office, which is also why I could not tell, in the first place, I always expected America would change THE CONSTITUTION for me, especially since the Democrats wanted to trade laws that would allow Clinton to run for a third office.
Finally, honey, I could not tell you, because you would have left me. But, in the end, I have more off-spring, and I want to to be a dad again.
Honey, why not stay with me? The WORST is probably over with. That reminds me, one of my gym friends gave me some fat-free turkey BRAUT-WURST.... lets eat and think about it.

Tony,
I think it's just poor character; David's post was probably closer to the truth. From his writings he wanted to marry royalty so just may not have been genuinely interested in her - his prior girlfriends looked anaemic and Maria only increasingly so after they were married; must have been his influence and predilection for the twiggy teenage boy look. Shame - she looked quite robust and healthy in their earliest pics; perhaps he starved her physically as well as emotionally.
Like David, I had read the same quote that Arthur Jones wrote about Arnold; however, can anyone, or David, cite in what publication it first was printed? Furthermore, I believe it was in THE JONES AUTOBIOGRAPHY; but, again, what chapter was it mentioned?

Actually, I don't believe Arnold has a medical disorder.
But is the man narcissistic to the extreme?
Absolutely.
Everything we know about him from his early days as a bodybuilder point to such a weakness.
Perhaps he should be pitied rather than judged.
He obviously is a flawed man, and I use the word "man" lightly when I describe him.
Tony
personally i love the guy but he is the diefinition of selfish
and yes Tony agree a classic definition of a narcissist there is no doubt, im sure he'd sell his childrens souls to satan to get himself what he wanted.
Personally if i had his fame and fortune id try at least to have a new woman every night, i dont understand why you would commit to marriage if you have no intention of being faithful.
And to think the voters tossed Gray Davis out of office in a recall election for Arnold whose primary experience was that of a steroid-induced bodybuilder.
==Scott==
Like anything Arnold did should surprise us? I love the guy but Arnold is Arnold. He's no saint. He's not a person one should look up to for good morals or character any more than Mike Tyson. As Arnold would say.."Just do it!" and he did...ha ha..

Never underestimate the stupidity of voters.
Tony
Gray Davis was involved in some scandal if I recall, but I always found it curious how they re-elected the guy, then wanted him recalled several months later! Huh!
