"Doing more exercise with less intensity,"
Arthur Jones believes, "has all but
destroyed the actual great value
of weight training. Something
must be done . . . and quickly."
The New Bodybuilding for
Old-School Results supplies
MUCH of that "something."

This is one of 93 photos of Andy McCutcheon that are used in The New High-Intensity Training to illustrate the recommended exercises.

Dr Darden.

If you could, would you please look at these two photos and tell what?s going on here?

Casey is doing a French Press for the Nautilus Omni Multi Exercise Machine. The guy at the back is probably putting some resistance on the stack for the eccentric phase of the last few reps. I fabricated a thick revolving slightly cambered bar for doing this and it works great. Using a chain coming from the moment arm of the machine I adjusted the length to the bar to make sure I was getting the hardest part of the cam for coming into full extension of the arms overhead.
It's a very good movement and there is something especially good about doing French Press with a thick bar.

Thanks for posting this picture.

Sorry I jumped in here as this is for Dr Darden.

I think the guy in the back was actually helping Casey on the positive phase, as he lowered a heavy weight on the triceps extension. The shot was taken in the Nautilus training room at Lake Helen. It was not in the Quonset Hut in DeLand.

Thanks Ellington just with the wooden panelling I thought it may have been the Quonset Hut.
Can you remember what equipment was in the Quonset Hut ?

I think I described the insides of the Quonset Hut in my book, "The New High Intensity Training."

PS: Interestingly, on today's T-Nation website, there's an article of mine that describes the Quonset Hut. The title of the piece is "Old-School Muscle."

Which was the most pertinent

Lol
There?s a second pic I didn?t post showing something behind looking like it was aiding resistance on the chain, I wasn?t sure.

It just looks like the guy behind was applying force on the positive portion of the rep using a type of lever attached to the bearing or cog.

As it looks like he?s just using one or two plates?

Thanks Ellington I enjoyed re-reading page 17 Queasy at the Quonset Hut and the T-Nation article.
LOL thanks for keeping me in line.
It's always good to get all the books out and rediscover articles not looked at for years. Casey's 15 exercise routine you witnessed on page 18 must have been mind-blowing.
